This stein holds an imperial pint worth of beer in cyrogenic perfection. It is my preferred size for day-to-day beer drinking consumption. The 1900ml is ideal for Oktoberfest and St. Patty’s, but tends to strike fear into servers. Brushed aluminum, stainless steel, and silvered glass for science-y victory! I have additionally used a brushed stainless steel handle and aluminum spacers rather than Teflon ones to give this stein the MAXIMUM METAL look.
I’ve made this stein using a bench top liquid nitrogen dewar flask. This is, for all intents and purposes, the very best thermos you’re ever going to find. It is quite common to fill these with liquid nitrogen, let it sit on the lab bench, and when you come back three days later there will still be liquid nitrogen in it.
Now imagine what it can do for beer. Beer is meant to be consumed at the temperature it comes off the tap and very few bars will let you behind to position yourself under the keg. This is the next best thing.
Your last sip of beer will be as cold as your first. Alternatively, you can enjoy a margarita on a warm summer day without it getting all melty. It will keep hot things hot just as well as it keeps cold things cold. That’s an a fair bit of hot coffee.
Please specify in your note whether you would like this to be a right or left handed stein.
After years of playing with dewar flasks and other scientific glassware in my bar and kitchen, I got enough people asking if I could make some of the more interesting things for them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Everyone needs a bit more mad science in their life!
All items are sent insured to make sure the steins arrive in one piece and that I can easily replace the item if they break it.
If you are local to me in the SF Bay Area, it is possible that we can arrange a hand off.
